PORTRAIT

A garment is an act of thought.

Since 2007, Valentine Gauthier has built a house around a simple conviction: to make a garment the way one thinks a life. Not to follow a trend. To compose a wardrobe that lasts.

Each piece grows from a ongoing dialogue with cultures and the arts. Every pieces begins with a question about the material — its texture, its drape, its ability to endure. The silhouettes do not seek to seduce through brilliance. They convince through their clarity.

The house works in small series, with partners chosen for their craft and their values. Human-scale structures. Close attention at every stage, from pattern to finish.

"My work has always been in dialogue with cultures, their histories, what takes time and leaves a trace. From now on, I want this house to be freer, more open, shaped by our times."

Recognised in 2006 by the Prix International de Dinard, Valentine Gauthier received the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris in 2019.

OUR APPROACH

We do not produce by season. We produce by conviction. Producing less, producing better.
Pieces designed to stand the test of time, not to be replaced. Limited editions are not a constraint; they are a necessary condition. They allow us to control every step of the process,
ensuring our vision is never diluted by volume.
Each material is sourced directly from identified weavers in Spain, Italy, Portugal, and France.
No middlemen. A direct working relationship with every single supplier.
Every choice has a purpose, from the fabric to the button, from the pattern to the finish.

The Material, The Hand

Every piece begins with a fabric.
Before the sketch, before the cut, it is a question of material: its texture, its drape, the way it ages.
We choose our fibers for what they do, not for what they signal.

COTTON POPLINS AND OXFORDS
Woven in Spain. Cotton poplin for its fineness and structure; Oxford for its grain and sturdiness. Some made from organic cotton. Classic textiles, chosen for their ability to endure and develop a beautiful patina.
The shirts are made in France.

SILKS
Dyed using natural techniques. A material used sparingly, reserved for pieces that merit this particular care.

COATING WOOLS
Italian. Pure wool or a wool-and-cashmere blend, depending on the piece. Dense drapes that hold their shape and outlast the seasons.
The coats are made in France.

SUPER 100 VIRGIN WOOL
From Portugal. Fine, soft, with a precise drape. Reserved for tailoring, made in France in specialized ateliers.

KNITWEAR
In baby alpaca or 100% merino wool, spun in Italy and knitted by knitwear specialists.

BUTTONS
French and natural. Real horn, authentic mother-of-pearl, French silver-plated metal. A button is not a detail; it is a piece's final decision.

Our pieces are produced in limited editions. Certain timeless essentials are brought back into production.
No abrupt breaks, just a wardrobe built to last over time.
