Organic cotton
“ Cotton is an important raw material in our collections, but we are working to replace conventional cotton with organic alternatives. We are committed to continuing to increase the amount of certified organic fibers, ensuring that we source from suppliers where environmental and social responsibility criteria have been met at every stage. ”
Today, 80% of the cotton we use in our collections is certified organic. We choose to use non-genetically modified seeds from organic farming in India, grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and certified by the GOTS label, Global Organic Textile Standard. Organic farming practices help mitigate climate change and strengthen biodiversity, preserving the entire ecosystem. The water consumption required for its cultivation is reduced by half compared to conventional cotton because it is mainly rain-fed instead of irrigated. Organic cotton is also beneficial for the health of farmers because they do not need to resort to chemicals that are harmful to their well-being.
GOTS certification, Global Organic Textile Standard, is the most recognized global standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It guarantees that the cotton fiber is grown without GMOs and chemicals, and offers traceability from the cotton fields to the end customer.
Virgin wool
“We source our wool from farms in Scotland that have been carefully selected for their commitment to animal welfare and environmental stewardship. We believe that wool can only be truly sustainable if it causes no harm to the planet, animals or people.”
Virgin wool is particularly soft and qualitative because it comes from the very first shearing of the sheep. It is naturally breathable, water-repellent, durable and insulating, and it helps to preserve the environment unlike synthetic materials.
We work with Luigi, our Italian weaving partner, specialized in wool processing. From spinning to finishing, all fabrics are studied, developed and produced in Italy, guaranteeing a “Made in Italy” quality. All our weavers’ animals are raised outdoors in Scotland. With over 150 years of experience, know-how and excellence, the company works exclusively with farms certified as mule-free. Mule-ing is a surgical practice of removing part of the perianal skin of sheep, in order to prevent fly larvae from settling there. A horrible and cruel act against animals that we cannot tolerate. This is why we use No Mulesing certified wool.
The mill has SustainaWOOLTM accreditation, ensuring standards in good farm management practices, labour, health and safety, as well as the standards of the facilities through which the sheep and wool pass.
Recycled wool
“We believe that the circular economy offers many opportunities to bring about positive change in the world. It will be restorative and regenerative by design as thousands of tonnes of fabrics will not be disposed of as waste, but will be reintroduced into the production cycle.”
The recycled wool we use comes from spinning mill scraps and retains all these properties. We collaborate with Mario, an Italian partner specializing in the production of wool fabric in carded yarns, a typical and traditional product of Prato. Founded in 1944 by two brothers, the company promotes the use of recycled fibers (80% of its production). We use recycled wool to extend the life of fibers that have already been produced. The process therefore does not create any introduction of CO2 into the environment unlike the production of new materials. 100% of the recycled wool we use is traceable, coming from RWS certified scraps, Responsible Wool Sourcing. The wool itself is certified GRS, Global Recycled Standard, aimed at the welfare of sheep, compliance with best practices in land management and protection.
The GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification guarantees to distributors and end consumers that a product is manufactured from a percentage of recycled materials. All links in the chain are certified to guarantee traceability and the content of recycled elements in the finished product. The certification also includes obligations for each company, relating to social and environmental criteria.
Merino wool
“ We are agents of change. We challenge and push boundaries to make luxury products in a way that is fit for the world we live in today and tomorrow: beautiful and sustainable. No compromise. ”
Merino wool comes from the Merino sheep, a breed with a very abundant fleece. Their wool is renowned for its quality, its thermoregulatory properties, its softness and its fineness. We work with Luigi, our Italian weaving partner, who is one of the protagonists in the sector thanks to a structure that integrates all the stages of the supply chain: from the production of the yarns, through the spinning of the finished products. The yarns are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, which means that the raw materials are subjected to tests to ensure that the products used are environmentally friendly.
We believe that respecting nature requires respecting animals, which is why our breeders' sheep are raised outdoors in Australia. Our suppliers are selected based on their values and production methods that do not endanger or harm the ecosystem, human or animal life.
The yarns are certified RWS, Responsible Wool Standard, aimed at the welfare of sheep, compliance with best practices in land management and protection. The certification ensures traceability as well as monitoring of breeders and their herds.
Alpaca wool
" For over 10 years, we have been working on subjects such as craftsmanship, the know-how of ancestral houses invested in the subjects of ethics and sustainability. Our partners are carefully selected for their animal-friendly methods and their high-quality alpaca wool, the production of which generates jobs and added value. "
The Alpaca wool we use comes from Peru. The silky fibers are long and fine, which gives it a softer and more resistant quality than other fibers. The alpaca is an "ecological" animal in that its breeding produces very little greenhouse gases.
Our weaving partner, Ilaria, specializes in the production of high quality combed, carded and blown yarns, weaving and needle punching, characterized by an entirely Made in Italy processing. The yarns are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, guaranteeing the absence of harmful substances and minimizing environmental and chemical impacts. Our partner is a member of the International Alpaca Association, AIA, committed to the promotion and protection of alpaca fiber, animals, breeders and the territory of Peru. The company promotes sustainable production with a focus on wool produced in natural pasture conditions and with maximum respect for the environment and the animal. The alpaca shearing takes place every year between April and June and the wool is No Mulesing certified, guaranteeing respect for the animal.
Viscose FSC
Viscose is a material derived from wood cellulose. The fabric obtained is very resistant, fluid, shiny, soft.
We use viscose from sustainable forests in Europe, certified FSC, Forest Stewardship Council, in order to protect the forests and the species that live there.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a global organization that ensures that forests are managed in a way that conserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring economic viability. Products from certified forests are controlled from their origin, throughout the manufacturing process and up to their distribution.
Vegetable tanning
" The shoes in our collections are designed in our Parisian offices and then manufactured in the family workshop of my partner, a fourth generation of artisan shoemakers. We work together on the notion of comfort and flexibility, while considering the essential need for longevity that is specific to quality men's shoes. "
Vegetable tanning is an ancient and natural technique. The process consists of immersing the hides in plant substances, called tannins, such as wood, chestnut bark, oak, walnut, sumac, bramble and berries. Vegetable tanned leather does not contain any harmful toxic substances and the use of natural tannin ensures a low impact on the environment. It is breathable, insulating, stretchy, resistant to tears and abrasion, and it absorbs moisture.
We work with Arnaud and his family, artisan shoemakers for four generations specializing in shoemaking. Each model is hand-sewn, and the leathers used come from France, Italy or Spain, from suppliers who respect an environmental charter and favor vegetable-tanned leathers. The shoes are assembled in a traditional manner in an ethical and social approach in the province of Albacete, a historic region of shoemaking in Spain, which represents more than 200 years of know-how.
The colors can be patinated by hand in the Parisian workshop located in the Haut Marais. Each piece is unique and is the result of artisanal work borrowed from ancestral tradition.
Tencel - Eucalyptus fiber
Tencel is a soft fabric, its touch is related to that of silk. It is a breathable material that also allows to better filter bacteria that develop 2000 times less quickly on tencel than on synthetic materials.
Tencel Lenzing™, also known as lyocell, is a biodegradable cellulose fiber made from eucalyptus pulp from FSC®-certified forests and dissolved in an environmentally friendly solvent. The trees used to produce Lyocell are grown without irrigation or pesticides.
Its manufacturing process is therefore ecological because 99% of these solvents are recycled, purified and reused in a closed circuit. The lyocell manufacturing process is short. It takes about two and a half hours between cutting the wood and spinning. Thus, compared to the production of other fibers, it uses less water and energy.
Virgin wool - super 100
With over 350 years of experience, know-how and excellence, we work with one of the oldest wool mills in the world. Alessandro, our Italian weaving partner, sources his wool from certified museling free farms located in Australia. The farms follow strict specifications: animal living conditions, soil analysis and management, ban on mutilating practices, worker qualifications and training, transport, etc. Respect for animals is essential, which is why the muzzling technique is prohibited on farms, prioritizing the health and respect of animals. From spinning to finishing, all fabrics are studied, developed and produced in Italy, guaranteeing “Made in Italy” quality.
Virgin wool is particularly soft and qualitative because it comes from the very first shearing of the sheep. It is naturally breathable, water-repellent, durable and insulating, and it helps to preserve the environment unlike synthetic materials. The “super 100s” classification refers to the fineness of the fibers used, i.e. their average diameter.
The mill has SustainaWOOL™ accreditation, ensuring standards in good farm management practices, labour, health and safety, as well as the standards of the facilities through which the sheep and wool pass.
Silk bourrette
Silk floss is the first thread that surrounds the cocoon of the Bombyx Mori insect or Mulberry Bombyx which gives it this irregular, soft and supple appearance. It is a 100% natural, sustainable, biodegradable, thermoregulating and environmentally friendly material because it comes from organic farming.
We use Ahimsa silk, from Buddhism, which is a non-violent silk. This process allows the completion of the silkworm towards its butterfly stage.
Organic denim
The organic cotton we use for our denim is GOTS certified, guaranteeing that the fiber is grown without GMOs and chemicals, and offers traceability from the cotton fields to the end customer. Our cotton comes from Turkey where irrigation is reasoned. Organic production systems allow to replenish and maintain soil fertility and to establish a biologically diversified agriculture.
The cotton threads are then immersed in indigo baths, initially coming out green before the blue colour appears, in dye houses equipped with purification stations in accordance with European standards.
